May/June
0We took a quick break in June to celebrate graduation and weddings with family and friends, but we’re back! Here are some of the cards Miss Kristen and Beka made at our May party. Super cute “hello” cards!
Hope you can join us tomorrow, Wednesday, July 8 from 5-7PM at Yang & Horsley Dentistry. We’re making mini-cards to welcome new teachers to the Casa Grande Elementary School District… an annual tradition! Come join the fun!
March Feel Better Soon
0This is a rare project for us! We usually stick to “hello” or “have a happy day”, but today we decided to make true “Get Well Soon” cards for hospital patients. We had some donated paper floating around, so I paired it with some metallic yellow circles/scallops from leftover scraps, these cute bird stamps, and simple white labels. Even Dr. Julie and Miss Janie’s granddaughter helped with these (unintentionally) Easter/spring mini-cards! Aren’t they cute?
Hope you’ll join us on Wednesday, May 13th from 5-7PM at Yang and Horsley Dentistry (325 E. Cottonwood Lane), as we make some Hello cards for some local groups!
February Police Thank You Cards
0This month, inspired by the blue colors of the Gene Yang Gang and remembering Dr. Gene’s legacy this month, we created cards for the Casa Grande Police Department to recognize their strength and hard work.
I love all the textures in these cards: the matte silver backgrounds, the shiny foil stars, the textured metallic card stock, the embossed stars!
Hope you’ll join us on Wednesday, March 11th (from 5-7PM at Yang & Horsley Dentistry) as we create “Feel Better Soon” mini-cards for our local hospital/rehabilitation centers!
Thanksgiving Turkeys
0Every year in November, we make little treats for the Seeds of Hope/community Thanksgiving dinner. This is our fourth year contributing to such a great event, and for 2014, Miss Kristen came up with the idea to make these cute turkeys!
I did a little research on Pinterest and came up with this simple design: two scalloped half-circles, a Lifesaver, a friendly turkey face, and the best part – two little feet peeking out. We had a little army of helpers, and made over 300 turkeys in a variety of colors!
Thank you for everything you do, Seeds of Hope! Hope you can join us on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 5-7PM. We’re making Christmas tags to gift to family and friends!
Celebrate
0
We had a great turnout for our 5th birthday celebration! We had an extra-full table, a few new faces, and of course, our faithful, familiar, Spark a Smile friends.
Our new friend Dira, who is a mixed-media artist, brought her teen daughter, and they both created some cute designs.
Miss Marlene invited another expert card-designer, Miss Sheri, and she created some cute cards with some fun patterns.
Hope you’ll join us this Wednesday, November 12th, from 5-7PM at Yang & Horsley Dentistry for our monthly party. We’re participating in the Seeds of Hope annual Thanksgiving Dinner, by providing “dessert”!
Happy 5th Birthday, Spark a Smile!
0This October marks 5 years since Spark a Smile was founded! Our group has had over 50 monthly meetings and made 5,257 cards! So many things have changed in 5 years, but Spark a Smile has remained a constant for our dental family. We hope you’ll join us as we continue to spread happy mail that sparks a smile.
For SAS September, we got a head start on Halloween and made these cute mini-cards for a local church’s Trunk or Treat. We had a lot of help from four giggly girls who love to craft! They each put their own spin on things.
We’re celebrating FIVE years of Spark a Smile with a HAPPY party- Wednesday, October 8th, from 5-7PM at Yang and Horsley Dentistry. Hope you’ll join us for the birthday bash!
Cards for Danny
0In July, there was a news article about Danny, a little boy from Massachusetts with an inoperable brain tumor. For his birthday, all he wanted was birthday cards from all over the world. He received over 100,000 cards! We decided to keep the celebration going by sending him a few more, and here’s what we created!
We had some help from Miss Pat and her two grandkids, and it was special for them to help another child.
Hope he loves them as much as we loved making them! Join us on Wednesday, September 10th, from 5-7 PM as we get ready (early) for Halloween.
Hello Spring!
0In March, we helped Oasis Rehabilitation Center welcome Spring by creating these bright cards! Many thanks to Miss Marlene, who designed, cut, and embossed all the pieces for this project. Aren’t they happy?
Hope you can join us this Wednesday, April 9th, from 5-7PM (at Yang and Horsley Dentistry – 325 E. Cottonwood Lane). We’re making cards for 12-step patients! This will also be our last SAS until further notice, since we’re welcoming Horsley Baby #2 at the end of April!
February Thinking Of You
0When we made a stack of cards for Miss Judy and her friends in January, they were so excited and grateful for blank cards to deliver to shut-ins, they asked for more! We were happy to provide these heart-felt “Thinking of You” cards that they can send year-round.
Join us this Wednesday, March 12, as we create Springy cards for Oasis Rehabilitation Center. We meet on the second Wednesday of every month from 5-7PM at Yang and Horsley Dentistry. Hope to see you there!
Celebrating a New Year
0Happy 2014! To celebrate the start of a new year, we made birthday cards. They’ll be hand-delivered by Miss Judy and her group of friends who visit shut-ins. Miss Marlene had these donated envelopes to use, so she created these happy designs to match. We made over 70 of these oversized cards, and Miss Judy was thrilled to use them!
For February’s meeting, we’re making heart-felt Thinking of You cards! Hope you’ll join us THIS Wednesday (yes, one week early), February 5th, from 5-7 PM.
